Makar Sankranti is a beautiful festival celebrated by different names all over India. Makara Sankranthi is Popularly known as Sankranti. This is a Scientific festival related to Astronomical Journey. This Festival is celebrated Where Lord Surya (Sun) Stepped into Makara Rashi as per Astrology. This means The day from Sankranthi starts the Uttarayana Kala. The day Sankranthi is the last day of the Winter season. The Annual journey of the Sun through Dhanu (Sagittarius) and into Makar is commemorated on Makar Sankranti day (Capricorn). On this day, different regions people celebrate festivals in different ways. As per Beliefs, Doing Surya Narayana Pooja and Offering Payasam (Kheer) as Naivedhyam gives good results in Life.

Makara Sankranthi Sankramana Puja Vidhanam Telugu Tithi

Although the Sun God, Surya Bhagwan, is the primary deity worshipped on Makar Sankranti, other gods and goddesses are also honored, including Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Goddess Lakshmi.

To do the puja, adhere to the steps listed below:

  • Decontaminate the puja room.
  • The Panch Patra needs to be diluted with water.
  • A wooden stool should be placed there and cleaned with Gangajal.
  • Then drape a spotless yellow piece of fabric (blouse) over it.
  • A fistful of raw rice should be placed in a small heap on the right side. Repeat this method four more times, then place the rice one after the other toward the left.
  • Respectfully set the idols or images of Surya Bhagwan, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, and Lord Vishnu on each of the heaps.
  • Place a lit oil light in the chowki’s right-hand corner.
  • One by one, sprinkling some water on the gods.
  • Invoke Lord Ganesha and ask for his blessings before starting the ritual.
  • Offer flowers, incense, a fruit, haldi, chandan, kumkum, janeu, kalava, and durva grass.
  • Chant Om Ekadantaya Viddhmahe, Vakratundaya Dheemahi Tanno Danti Prachodayat, the Ganesha Gayatri Mantra.
  • Perform Lord Shiva’s pooja after offering prayers to Lord Ganesha. Offer fruit, flowers (preferably datura flowers), incense, Chandan, Janeu, Kalava, Vilva Patra, and flowers.
  • Om Tatpurushaya Vidmahe Mahadevaya Dhimahi Tanno Rudrah Prachodayat is the Rudra Gayatri Mantra.
  • a gift to Lord Vishnu After you have worshipped Lord Shiva, offer him Haldi, Chandan, Kumkum, Janeu, Kalava, Tulsi leaves, flowers, incense, and a fruit.
  • Recite the Vishnu Gayatri Mantra, Om Narayanaye Vidmahe Vasudavaye Dhimahi Tanno Vishnu Prachodayat.
  • You should pray to Goddess Lakshmi after you honor Lord Vishnu.
  • Along with Haldi, Chandan, Kumkum, Kalava, Lotus/flowers, incense, and fruit, provide a Tamboolam, which is made up of a brown coconut with its husk split in half, paan leaves, supari, a few bananas/fruits, haldi, and kumkum.
  • Chant the Lakshmi Gayatri Mantra, Om Mahalakshmaichya Vidmahe Vishnu Patnaichya Dheemahi Tanno Lakshmi Prachodayat.
  • Worship Surya Bhagwan after offering prayers to Goddess Lakshmi. Offer flowers, incense, a fruit, haldi, chandan, kumkum, kalava. Later, you can face the Sun and execute Arghya, a rite in which water is provided to the Sun God.
  • Chant Om Aadityaya Vidmahe, Martandaya Dheemahi, Tanno Suryah Prachodayat, the Surya Gayatri Mantra.
  • You can give Naiveidhya or any other delicious dish of your choice to each deity separately.
  • Finish the puja by lighting the camphor and conducting the aarti for each god.
  • Give out the Naivedhya as a gift.
