The Shashti that occurs in the month of Karthikai is known as Maha Shashti. Beginning on that day, a 6-day fast will be observed. The fast will conclude on the Surasamhara festival day. This Shashti Vrat is held at Tiruchendur Temple, Lord Murugan’s second residence.

People who worship Lord Murugan fast for six days during Kanda Sashti, which begins on the first day or Pirathamai of the Karthika lunar month and finishes on the sixth day or Soorasamharam day. The most important day of the six-day celebration is Soorasamharam. Lord Murugan defeated the Demon Surapadman on this day. Every year, Soorasamharam is held to recall that good triumphed over evil.

It is critical to note that the Soorasamharam day occurs when Shasti Tithi and Panjami Tithi both fall on the same day. As a result, if Shasti Tithi begins before sundown on Panjami Tithi, most temples follow Kanda Sashti.

Skanda Sashti Viratham 2022 Karthigai 6 Days Pooja Timings

• Karthigai Sashti Viratham begins on October 25, 2022, and finishes on October 31, 2022.
• 30th of October, 2022 Kanda Skanda Shashthi Shasti Vratam begins on October 26, 2022.

• Shasti Tithi begins on October 30, 2022, at 5:49 a.m.
• Shasti Tithi ends on October 31, 2022, at 3:27 a.m.

Thirunal, Kanda Shashti:

Shashti Tithi used to appear every month in the form of a crescent that grew larger. As a result, the month of Kartika is known as Maha Shashti when waxing occurs. Many visitors to the Tiruchendur temple fast on this day.

People believe that worshipping Lord Murugan following the Kanda Shashti Vrat will benefit them in their lives. Surasamharam will be launched on October 30. Shashti Tithi begins on October 30 at dawn and ends on October 31 at dawn.

Rituals of Karthigai Sashti Viratham:

• Bathe twice a day in cold water.
• Someone should bring flowers, light a lamp, and burn camphor in front of a portrait of Murugan at their home every morning and night.
• Kanda Shashti Kavasam should be recited twice a day, in the morning and at night.
• Evenings are ideal for visiting the Murugan temple near the house and praying.
• Every day, as much as feasible, alms should be given. Gandashashti Kavasam should be read or listened to aloud.
