Significance of Sri Krishnaastami:
In this festival, pooja is performed in night times as according to sanathana dharma there is a belief that LORD KRISHNA was born in the midnight. This festival is special not only for INDIA but many other countries celebrate SRI KRISHNA JANMASTHAMI accoding to their geographical times.
Krishna Astami Pooja Vidhanam:
On this occassion people observe fasting in day time as pooja is performed during mid night.People break their fast after offering NAIVEDHYAM,toLORD KRISHNA. According to our sanathana dharma fasting observed on JANMASTHAMI is more fruitful when compared to all the fastings obsrved through out the year.
Duing this occassion people decorate idol of LORD KRISHNA with various clothes and jewellery,and perform pooja ritual .Women draw tiny foot prints of LORD SRI KRISHNA infront of their house doors and kitchen as a ssymbol of KRISHNA’S journey into their homes. After pooja ARGHYAM is given to LORD SRI KRISHNA, and this process of giving arghyam is very important and aspicious in entire pooja ritual.
