Tirumala Tirupati Temple Eclipse Closing Dates

The world-famous Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala and about 60 other temples across the country that are run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will be closed to pilgrims on October 25 and November 8, when there will be solar and lunar eclipses. The TTD has said that the hill temple at Tirumala will be closed for almost 12 hours on October 25 because of the “Surya Grahan” (solar eclipse) and for the same amount of time on November 8 because of the “Chandra Grahan” (lunar eclipse).

The TTD administration said that worship at the hill temple would start again after the Vaikhanasa agama purification rituals were done. The temple body has said that the VIP break darshan, the SRIVANI trust-linked VIP break darshan, the Rs.300 special entry darshan, and all other forms of privilege Darshana will not be available at the Tirumala temple on October 25 and November 8 because the temple will be closed because of back-to-back eclipses. The temple body, on the other hand, will let common devotees have free darshan (Sarvadarshan) at the temple during certain hours on both days.

The temple will close in October and November of 2022.
On October 25, 2022, there will be a solar eclipse called Surya Grahanam, and on November 8, 2022, there will be a lunar eclipse called Chandra Grahanam. On each of these days, the doors to the Tirumala temple will be closed for almost 12 hours.
The Surya Grahanam takes place on October 25 between 5:11 PM and 6:27 PM. The temple doors will be shut at 8:11 AM and won’t open again until 7:30 PM after the Suddhi rituals have been done.

On November 8, when Chandra Grahanam happens from 2:39 PM to 6:19 PM, the temple doors will close at 8:40 AM and open again at 7:20 PM. On these two days, TTD has canceled VIP Break Darshan, SRIVANI Trust, Rs.300/- SED, and Arjitha Sevas like Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Brahmotsavam, and Sahasra Deepalankara Sevas.

All the special darshans, like those for senior citizens, people with physical disabilities, parents with young children, non-resident Indians, military personnel, etc., are also canceled. After the temple doors open again, only pilgrims with the Sarva Darshan pass through VQC-II on these two days to get darshan.
Only Sri Kalahasti Temple will be open in Grahanam timings. There will be Rahu Ketu pooja.

After the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in March 2020, the Tirumala temple, where worship happens without any problems, was closed to pilgrims for almost three months, from March to June. Later, on June 8, 2020, the Tirumala temple reopened for pilgrim worship with strict COVID-19 rules. These rules were completely lifted in April 2022, and since then, there have been more pilgrims than ever at the Lord Balaji mandir in Tirumala.
