Sankastahara chaturthi Procedure:
- Sanksatahara Chaturthi has to be done for 3 or 5 or 11 or 21 months.
- Sankastahara Chaturthi should be stated on bahula chavithi.
- One has to wakeup before early in the morning, do a head bath, and do Ganapathi pooja
- A new white or red cloth has to be placed in front of Lord Vinayaka
- Then 3 hands full of rice are to be placed on white or red cloth
- Then 2 dates, and 2 beetle nuts are kept as Dakshina and the cloth is then tied up.
- Sankata nashana Ganesha stotram and sankatahara Chaturthi Katha has to be read out.
- After this one should go to lord Vinayaka temple and do 3 or 11 or 21 pradakshinas.
- Depending on one’s financial condition they should perform Garika pooja or Ganapati Homam.
- The lord Ganesha idol at home should not be moved until sunset.
- After sunset, they have to make Pongal with the rice in tied cloth and keep naivedyam for Lord Ganesha.
- They have to do this for 3 or 5 or 11 or 21 months continuously
