• The Srivari Jyestabhishekam Tirumala Myth and Its Connection to Tirumala. According to the Hindu Almanack, the ritual of “Jyesthabhishekam” is carried out during the sacred month of Jyestha, and the celebration is deemed successful when it coincides with the star Jyestha located in the constellation. This celebration goes under the name “Abhidhyeyaka Abhishekam” as well.
• The term “Abhidhyeyakam” refers to a defensive shield or armor (something that cannot be destroyed). In order to defend himself and his followers from the dangers of this Kaliyuga, the Lord manifested this armor of defense.
• This event is also known as Abhidhyeyaka Abhishekam due to the fact that a special abhishekam (celestial bath) is performed on the sacred “Armour of God” during the celebration.
• This event is also known as “Jyesthabhishekam” due to the fact that it takes place during the month of Jyestha, which typically occurs in either June or July. This heavenly celebration has only been going on for the last twenty years.

• According to the legend that is passed down within the temple, this unique Abhishekam is supposed to be carried out on a yearly basis. Its purpose is to shield the Utsava deities of Lord Malayappa swami and his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi from any harm that might be caused while carrying out processions and Tirumanjanam (holy baths) at various times throughout the year for the purpose of celebrating various festivals.
• This celebration goes on for a total of three days. Following the ringing of the second bell of each day, the Lord and his consorts are transported to the Kalyanotsava mandapam in Sampangi Prakaram, where the Snapana Tirumanjanam ritual is performed while Vedic mantras are chanted in the background.
• In the Hindu ritual known as Snapana Tirumanjanam, the deities are given a bath using holy and sanctified water that has been blended with various spices such as turmeric, sandal paste, honey, milk, and curd.
• Later, on each of these days, the Lord and his consorts are dressed in unique kavachams, or special robes, to commemorate the occasion. On the first day, the Lord blesses pilgrims while they are clad in Vajrakavacham (armor studded with diamonds), and on the second day, they are clad in Muthyala kavcham (armor studded with pearls). Only at this particular time of year does the Lord get the adornment of the Vajra and the Muthya kavacham.
• The Svarna kavacham, which is an armor made of gold, will be decorated to the Lord on the last day of the ceremony. This Svarna kavacham will stay adorned to the Lord throughout the year, and it will only be removed for the Abhidhyeyaka Abhishekam the following year.
