Why was Sri Narasimha Jayanthi celebrated?
As per Hindhu Sanathana Dharma, Lord Narayana took an avatar of Lord Narasimha to destroy the demon king hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu hates lord Vishnu because Lord Vishnu killed his elder brother hiranyaksha. then Hiranyakashyapa will pray for Brahma and Brahma will offer a boon ” he asked Brahma that no one not to kill him in the air and land and animal and has not to kill me and any living or nonliving things not to kill me” then Brahma will grants the boon then the Hiranyakashyapa will kill the people and he has ruled the people these things will hate by his son named Prahlada and he use to tell his father but he will not bother that one-day Hiranyakashyapa will think to kill the Prahlada his own son then the Prahlada will pray to the pillar then lord Vishnu by the Narasimha avatar he comes and kills the Hiranyakashyapa as we all know Narasimha is not man and animal he is a man-lion means head with lion and remaining body with the man. On the day of Narasimha Jayanthi, sree Lakshmi Narasimha swamy killed the Demon king hiranyakashipu. From that day, Narasimha Jayanthi is celebrated as a festival on Vaishakha Shukla Paksha Chaturdashi every year.
