Significance of Vinayaka Chaturthi
As per Puranas, Lord Chandra was very proud of his looks. Once he saw Lord Ganesha with an elephant head and burst into laughter. Lord Vinayaka did not like it and cursed Lord Chandra that whoever looks at Moon will face difficulties and his curse. Moon realized his mistake and pleaded for forgiveness. Lord Vinayaka forgave him and asked him to observe fast which will set him free from the curse.

Vinayaka Chaturthi Pooja Vidhi:
- Wake up early in the morning preferably in Brahma muhurtham. Take a head bath and get ready for the pooja rituals.
- Clean the house thoroughly and decorate the pooja room.
- For naivedhyam kudumulu are very important as they are the favorite dish of Lord Vinayaka.
- An oil lamp is lit during the pooja and chant mantras.
- During pooja, devotees must use garika, a special type of grass.
