Purattasi Sani, also known as Tirumala Shanivara, is a Hindu festival held in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The Hindu god Venkateswara is honored throughout this festival. It is normally held in September or October on the Gregorian calendar, which corresponds to the Tamil month of Purattasi. People believe that Lord Venkateswara appeared on Earth during the month of Puratasi Masam, hence this month is very significant. Some people will only eat plant-based meals during this month.

2022 Tirumala Sanivaralu Dates and Pooja Procedure

• Between September 18 and October 17,

Worshippers of Lord Vishnu believe that this is the finest month to express gratitude to him for keeping the globe safe at the conclusion of the Kali Yuga. This month’s Saturdays are all holy days, and many people visit Lord Vishnu temples to pray and do special things. The first, third, and fifth odd Saturdays are especially significant. The Tirumala Annual Navarathri Brahmotsavam was also held during this month.

Tirumala Sanivaralu 2022 Procedure:

1. Fasting should be observed until the end of the Purattasi Saturday puja.
2. You can cook Maavilakku, Sweet Pongal, Tamarind rice, Chana dal sundal, Coconut rice, Curd rice, Sesame seeds rice, Anjaneyar Kovil Vada, and Pepper vada for Lord’s neivedyam.
3. Take a sombu, wash it thoroughly, and draw the Sangu, chakram, and namam on it with namakatti or rice flour paste. Allow it to dry.
4. Choose a favorable time to perform the Pooja and avoid Rahukalam and Yamagandam.
5. When the Lord’s naivedyams are finished, place a small amount of each on a whole banana leaf or a plate in front of the silver pot/sombu.
6. On a dish, arrange fruits, betel leaves, almonds, and coconut, and light the lamp and incense sticks.
7. Chant mantras and read slokas of Lord Venkateswara. It is extremely auspicious to chant the Vishnu Sahasranama, which has 1000 names for Lord Maha Vishnu, during Purattasi Shani Vratham.
8. Fill a small container with tulsi water, light the maavilakku, and offer the neivedyam to the Lord.
9. Finish the Pooja, sip the tulsi water, and then enjoy lunch with Lord Dhoop and Dheep.
