About Ahoi Ashtami Puja

In North India, the Ahoi Ashtami fast is quite well-known. Four days after Karva Chauth and eight days before Diwali Puja, Ahoi Ashtami is a fasting day. Ahoi Eighteen is another name for Ahoi Ashtami. Similar to Karva Chauth, ladies follow a severe fast on this day. During the entire day of the Ahoi Ashtami Vrat, fasters don’t take any food even drinking water. Only after observing the stars in the sky is the fast broken.

This fast is typically kept on the same day as Diwali and Kartik Ashtami. The image of Ahoi Mata is venerated (very important) on this day by being hung on the wall in hopes of achieving health and longevity for their offspring.
