Ahobilam Narasimha Swamy Temple History:

The word Ahobilam refers to a wonderful cave. It refers to a cave in which Garuda meditated for thousands of years for Narasimha and got the boon from this god. Lord Narasimha manifested himself in a cave and informed Garuda to see that cave and said the location of that cave. Garuda went to that cave and worshiped Lord Narasimha. The hill on which Garuda meditated for Lord Narasimha is called Garudadri or Garudachalam.

There are nine deities which will be worshiped called as Sri Jwala Narasimha, Sri Ahobila Narasimha, Sri Kroda Narasimha, Sri Karanjana Narasimha, Sri Malola Narasimha, Sri Pavana Narasimha, Sri Bhargava Narasimha, Sri Chatravata Narasimha, Sri Yogananda Narasimha. There are two divisions of Ahobilam. They are Upper Ahobilam is called Eguva ahobilam and the Lower Ahobilam is called Diguva Ahobilam. The distance between eguva Ahobilam to Diguva Ahobilam is nearly 10 Kilometers. The main belief of pilgrims is that the power of nine planets will be acquired when they visit these nine temples.

Temple Timings and poojas :

Eguva Ahobilam opens from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Diguva Ahobilam opens from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM. This temple is very powerful and the people perform various poojas. Every month Friday they do Ekadasi and Poornima Utsavams. The famous pooja in this temple is Saraswathi Abhisekham and Kalyanotsavam. The best time to visit this temple is in January and February.
