After being devastated by the Mughals, these temples have undergone multiple restorations and expansions up to the current day. In their present form, they are a mishmash of contributions from several eras. According to Hindu scripture, Lord Narasimha is Vishnu’s fourth incarnation. There there was a monarch named Hiranyakashyap who fancied himself a deity in Hindu mythology. The problem was that Prahalad, a devout devotee of Vishnu, didn’t want to treat his father like a deity and so he kept on worshiping Vishnu instead.

Hiranyakashyap tried to kill his son Prahalad many times, but each time Vishnu stopped him. Thanks to his blessing, Hiranyakashyap was safe from harm at the hands of humans, animals, and demons whether he was on land or in the air, awake or asleep, within or outside his home. Once Hiranyakashyap had tried everything, he dared Prahalad to prove that Lord Narasimha is stronger than anybody else by challenging him to a fight. To vanquish the demon Hiranyakashyap, Vishnu took the shape of Narasimha, a hybrid of a human and a lion.

In the Ahobilam Temple, Kalyanam will be performed on the yearly Brahmotsavam Time. And also, Devotees can book the Kalyanotsava Seva Tickets through the online portal of the Temple.
