Nataraja Temple Timings for Chidambaram Temple Abhishekam
Since ancient times, it has been thought that Lord Shiva and Parvathi may be found here but are invisible to regular people’s naked sight. Chidambara Ragasiyam is concealed behind a curtain in Lord Nataraja’s Chidambaram temple (Maya). Only when priests open the curtain (or Maya) during specific poojas can one see Chidambara Ragasiyam.

Special about Chidambaram temple:
The bejeweled figure of Nataraja is a distinctive element of this temple. It symbolizes Lord Shiva as the Lord of Bharatanatyam dance and is one of the rare temples where Shiva is depicted by an anthropomorphic murthi rather than the traditional anionic Lingam. Lord Nataraja’s Cosmic Dance represents the mobility of the cosmos as supported by Lord Shiva. There are five courtyards in the temple. Around 1213 AD, Aragalur Udaya Iraratevan Ponparappinan (alias Vanakovaraiyan) erected the Chidambaram Siva temple. The Tiruvannamalai temple was also erected by the same Bana Chief. The temple has always been governed by Dikshitar, an endogamous clan of Shaivite brahmins who also serve as its priest.
Rudrabhishekam begins with Homam and ends with Annadanam. Sacred bath and Rudra mantras are included. This special Pooja must be booked in advance. This Homam will be done in front of the whole family. During the abhisheka, the Rudra Mantra will be chanted. Private Purohit will do this Pooja outside the temple.
