History of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple:

The Chola King named Kuloththunga gave a clue that this temple is from his time. Another chief of velanadu, Chief Gonka-111 (1137 – 1156) covered the image with gold, and the Eastern Ganga king of Odisha Narasimha Deva – 11 (1279 – 1306) built the central temple. Sri Krishnadevaraya visited this temple and offered some valuable jewelry to this temple and this jewelry is still in that temple. The deity of this temple is Tribhanga Posture with two hands and the head of a lion on the human body. There are nearly 250 legends who described the past of Simhachalam Temple.

Simhachalam temple resembles five gateways and three outer courtyards. This is the style of the Kalinga Architecture, Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, and this temple is the second-largest and oldest temple in Andhra Pradesh. The temple fulfilled many women’s wishes of having a baby. Chandanotsavam and kalyanotsavam are the two festivals celebrated with great pomp.

Simhachalam Temple Darshan Timings and Online Tickets Booking

In Simhachalam Temple they provide free darshan to the pilgrims and this temple is open on all days of the week. Simhachalam temple timings are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. For special darshan, they need to pay INR 100 per devotee. Tickets can be bought from the temple ticket counter, and there is no facility for online pooja booking. The Visakhapatnam international airport is the nearest to the temple, being 14km away, and the Visakhapatnam railway station is the closest railway station to the temple at a distance of 18km.
