What mythology surrounds Vaikunta Ekadasi?

According to the Padma Purana, a Demon named ‘Muran’ tormented the Devas in heaven. Devas sought Lord Vishnu, unable to stomach the demon’s horrors. Lord Vishnu fought the demon in an attempt to solve the problem, but he eventually recognized that the monster could only be defeated with a new weapon or female energy. He went straight into the cave and chose to rest.

When Muran attempted to kill Lord Vishnu while he was sleeping, a feminine power appeared from Vishnu and burned Muran to ashes with her gaze. Lord Vishnu was pleased and named the energy ‘Ekadasi,’ promising her a boon. Ekadashi requested from Lord Vishnu that devotees who fasted on that day be cleansed of their sins and allowed to enter Vaikunth (Heaven). Muran represents human pleasures and characteristics like avarice, lust, lethargy, hubris, and so on.

When people wish to eradicate the negative aspects of themselves, they are killing the furious demon. After eliminating all negative attributes, the positive aura improves, making it simpler to attain greater heights of accomplishment. Vaikuntha Ekadashi is also remembered for a significant occurrence that occurred during the Kurukshetra War. For the first time, Lord Krishna delivered a talk on the Bhagavad Gita, which is regarded as one of humanity’s most sacred writings.
