Fruits, flowers, and Madira (wine/alcohol) are offered to Kaal Bhairava to begin the Pooja-Vidhi and the traditional rituals for him.

  • According to popular belief, Radha Kund and Shyama Kund, the ponds named for Radha and Krishna, first appeared on Bahula Ashtami. The ponds are in Vrindavan.
  • Thousands of people visit the ponds on this day to take a holy swim.
  • People believe that the Radhakund is filled with all of the holy waters in the universe.
  • Please remember that in south India, particularly in the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the waning phase of the moon is known as Bahula.
