2023 Vaikunta Ekadasi Festival at Bridgewater Balaji Temple:

In Sanskrit, Ekadasi means eleven. Ekadasi is the eleventh day of the bright half of the lunar month (Sukla Paksha) and the eleventh day of the dark half of the lunar month (Krishna Paksha). In the Sukla Paksha, the moon expands from new moon to full moon and contracts from the full moon to the new moon in the subsequent half. Lord Vishnu regards Ekadasi as auspicious. The Ekadasi day, which occurs during the Paksha of Dhanurmasa/Sukla Margahi (December middle to January middle), is extremely important. The gates of Vaikuntha are said to be ceremoniously opened for devotees on this day. This day is known as Vaikuntha (Abode of Lord Sriman Narayana) Ekadasai in all Vaishnava Temples.
