Lord Shani Dev was also born in the month of Jyeshta, hence the month has special significance in Hinduism. During the month of Jyeshta, the heat is at its highest. That is why the month of Jyeshta is also known as the summer month.

• Take a morning bath in a holy river, lake, or pond.

As per Samantha Dharma, Jyeshtha Amavasya is the Jayanthi of Lord Surya Elder Son Sri Shani Deva. Lord Shani is the pleasant and one of the 09 planets in Hindu Astrology. Shani Dev is also known as Shanaishchara due to the planet’s slow movement. He is also known as the God of Justice and the Punisher (Dandadhikari) of bad Karma in Kaliyuga. He distributes the fruit of one’s actions throughout one’s life. On this day, people perform particular rituals to worship God in order to appease him and gain his benefits.

Shani Dev’s Birth History:

An ancient narrative of Shani Dev’s birth is widely popular. According to tradition, Lord Shani is the son of the Sun God and his wife Chhaya. Surya Dev, or Lord Sun, married Sangya and had three children: Manu, Yama, and Yamuna. Sangya lived with Surya Dev for a few years after their marriage, but she couldn’t stand the Sun’s brightness (Tej).
As a result, she abandoned her shadow (Chhaya) to serve the Sun God. Chhaya eventually gave birth to Shani Dev. When Lord Sun discovered that Chhaya was not truly Sangya, he became enraged and refused to accept Lord Shani as his son. Shani and Surya have disliked each other ever since, despite the fact that they are father and son.

Vata Savitri Vrat:

This is the major event for married women, however, girls and widows can also participate in Vat Savitri Vrat. Fasting practices are carried out on Jyeshtha Amavasya.
