Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu’s Tiruththanka or Tooppul or Deepaprakasa Perumal Temple is one of the 108 Divyadesam. The Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Alvar saints from the 6th to the 9th century CE, exalts this ancient Sri Vishnu temple, which was built in the Dravidian architectural style. Here, Goddesses Sri Maha Lakshmi is shown as Maragathavailli, while Lord Perumal is portrayed as “Deepa Prakasar” or Vilakoli Perumal as the Moolavar in Nindra Thirukkolam facing the west (Deepam means light). The distance from This temple to Sri Ashtabuyakaram Temple is just 500 meters.
As per Sanathana Dharma and Temple Myth, Lord Sri Chathurmukha Brahma has done Thapashu (Penance) and seen Lord Vishnu in the Form of Deepaprakasar at this temple. There are 06 daily rituals and 03 Annual festivals that will be conducted in this Temple. The most notable of which is the Brahmotsavam festival, which is observed in the Tamil month of Puratassi (September–October). The Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Tamil Nadu government looks after and manages the temple.
Visitors to this temple come seeking kid blessings and academic brilliance. When their wishes come true, devotees conduct Tirumanjanam for the Lord and Mother, presenting vastras.
