The Hindu month of Kartik is immensely important. This month is jam-packed with important festivals. One of them is the Tulsi Vivah festival. Tulsi Vivah is observed on the Dwadashi day of Shukla Paksha in Kartika month. On this day, married women worship the tulsi plant in order to bring pleasure and success to their families.

Tulsi Puja is conducted every year on the Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month’s Dwadashi day. The Dwadashi date for the Kartik month this year is Saturday, November 5, 2022. The significance of this day is enhanced by the fact that Lord Vishnu emerges from a four-month-long nap the day before it and hears his devotees’ petitions once more. As a result, all Muhurtas for marriage, home admittance, and Upanayana rites commence on this day. It is usual to marry Lord Shaligram and Tulsi on this day.

Tulsi Vivah – History:

Tulasi and Vishnu/marriage Krishna’s ritual is comparable to a traditional Hindu wedding. A fast is observed on Tulasi Vivaha day until the ceremony begins in the evening. The wedding ceremony is held in private homes and temples. The Tulasi plant is usually put in the center of the courtyard, with a mandapam (marriage booth) built around it. Tulsi Vrindavana is the name given to this brick plaster. According to folklore, Vrinda’s soul spends the night in the plant before departing in the morning.

Tulasi, the bride, is dressed in a sari and jewelry, including necklaces and earrings. Tulasi may have a paper cutout of a human face complete with a bindi and nose ring. The bridegroom is in the form of the metal image of Vishnu, Krishna, Balarama, or—more commonly—symbol, Vishnu’s shaligram stone. In the photograph, a dhoti is worn. Vishnu and Tulasi are both bathed and garlanded with flowers before the wedding. A cotton thread (mala) is used to bind the couple together during the ceremony.

According to religious doctrine, worshiping Mata Tulsi and Lord Shaligram on the day of the Tulsi marriage grants all of the devotees’ wishes and blesses their married lives with happiness and wealth. In addition, difficulties between the husband and wife are resolved.
