Sholinghur Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple History:

After performing the Narasimha Avataaram at Ahobilam (Andhra Pradesh), Lord Vishnu showed it again at Sholingur to the Saptha rishis performing penance there. This is why it is considered to be one of the holiest “Divya Desams on the Hill” in all of Tamil Nadu.

After 24 minutes of penance (One Kadigai/One ‘Naazhigai’), Lord Narasimha bestowed upon Sage Vishwamitra the title of ‘Brahmma Rishi.’ Like the great sage before them, the Saptha Rishis came to Sholingur to perform penance in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the Narasimha Avataaram within the allotted 24 minutes. One who meditates here for 24 minutes is said to achieve Moksham.

Sholingur Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple Spiritual Importance:

The Big Hill Temple is dedicated to Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, who is the presiding deity and who is pictured here in a seated position. Thakaan and Akkarakani are the other names. Ackaram is an Arabic word that refers to wealth. Kadikachlam is another name for this holy site.

In the Sholingur Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple, devotees can visit one of four Pushkaranies dedicated to various deities: Amirtha Theertham (Thakkan Kulam), Narasimma Theertham, Hanumantha Theertham, and Brahma Theertham.

The Nithiyapadi Poojas are carried out in three temples: the Big Hill Temple, the Small Hill Temple, and the Local Temple. We do this pooja in accordance with Vaikanasa Agama. Dhoddachar Swami’s Seva is given priority in the distribution of Theertham and Manthra Pushpa because of his position as a scion of the Swami family.
