Murugan, also called Kandhan is the Tamil divine force of war and triumph. Murugan has six sanctuaries in Tamil Nadu, which are known as Arupadaiveedu. In Tamil Nadu, Murugan has kept on being famous with all classes of society since the Sangam age.

Sharad Purnima, otherwise called Kumara Purnima, celebrated on the full moon day after Vijayadashami, is one of the famous celebrations committed to Kartikeya in Odisha. Murugan is considered the child of Shiva and Parvathi, who was made to kill the Asuras and be the everlasting defender of the Devas and other living creatures. The Asuras were mythical beings who oftentimes fought against the Devas or divine beings. The six destinations (padaiveedu) in Tamil Nadu where Murugan stayed while driving his armed forces are Palani, Swamimalai, Thiruparamkundram, and Pazhamudirsolai, Thiruthani and Thiruchendur, the Arupadaiveedu.
