The Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple:

The Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple, also known as the Srisailam Temple, is a Hindu temple in Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh, India, dedicated to the god’s Shiva and Parvati.

This temple is revered by followers of both the Shaivite and Shakti schools of Hinduism, earning designations as both a Shiva shrine (one of the twelve Jyotirlingas) and a Shakti Peetha (one of the eighteen centers dedicated to the Hindu goddess). Mallikarjuna, or Shiva, is revered, and the lingam is his symbol of reverence. Bhramaramba is a representation of Parvati, his wife.

Srisailam There are only 18 temples known as Maha Shakti Peetha, and Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is one among them. Sri Parvati emerged as the new Sati Devi and Shiva became a householder thanks to the mythology of Daksha Yaga and Sati’s self-immolation. This mythology explains how the first Shakti Peethas came into existence. Due to the dropping of Sati Devi’s corpse when Shiva carried it and traveled, these places became holy abodes of Adiparashakti. Some say here is where Sati Devi’s upper lip landed.

Legend of Srisailam temple:

The time when Shiva and Parvati set out to find wives for their sons. Three of Shiva’s consorts, Buddhi (intelligence), Siddhi (spiritual force), and Riddhi (prosperity), were married off to Ganesha. After returning home, Kartikeya became upset and, assuming the identity of Kumarabrahmachari, he proceeded to spend some time by himself atop Mount Kraunja. His father came over to try to calm him down, and he tried to leave, but the Devas asked him to stay nearby, so he did. Shrishailam is the name given to the location that served as Shiva and Parvati’s home.

According to Hindu mythology, jasmine (known in Telugu as Mallika) was offered to the reigning deity in the form of a Linga (an iconic form of Shiva), which is how the deity is known as Mallikarjuna. The Srisailam Mallikarjuna Swamy temple is famous for its celebration of Mahashivratri.
