To accommodate those who want to go to Tirumala for darshan, there are two stone footpath pathways that lead there. You may call them Alipiri Mettu or Srivari Mettu. When comparing Alipiri Mettu with Srivari Mettu, the latter is clearly the more established of the two pedestrian paths. The overall distance traveled is 2.1 km, and the total number of steps is 24,000. (approx). Using this path, most visitors to Tirumala shrine spend around 1.5 hours there. The time it takes, however, varies from person to person.
Free shuttle buses run between the Tirupati bus station and train station and the Srivari Mettu starting location, provided by the TTD. It’s important to note:
- That the Srivari Mettu path is only accessible during the day. This path is open to pilgrims from 06:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. There is a stringent policy of closing the road overnight.
- Up to the launch of the Tokens, 6,000 new tokens will be created every day. From 06:00 a.m. on, tokens will be distributed.
- The facility is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the total number of steps is 2388; the total distance is 2.1 km.
- The average travel time is 2 to 3 hours.
