To accommodate those who want to go to Tirumala for darshan, there are two stone footpath pathways that lead there. You may call them Alipiri Mettu or Srivari Mettu. Sopana Marg is the name for these paths. Those who make the journey to Tirumala through the Srivari Mettu or Alipiri pathways are considered Divya Darshan.

When comparing Alipiri Mettu with Srivari Mettu, the latter is clearly the more established of the two pedestrian paths. The overall distance traveled is 2.1 km, and the total number of steps is 24,000. (approx). Using this path, most visitors to Tirumala shrine spend around 1.5 hours there. The time it takes, however, varies from person to person.

Free shuttle buses run between the Tirupati bus station and train station and the Srivari Mettu starting location, provided by the TTD. The nearest bus station and train station to Srivari Mettu are located 17 km away. Those traveling to Srivari Mettu will pass via Alipiri Entrance. Walks to the temple may begin from the Srivari Mettu Entry.

It’s important to note:

  • That the Srivari Mettu path is only accessible during the day. This path is open to pilgrims from 06:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. There is a stringent policy of closing the road overnight.
  • Up to the launch of the Tokens, 6,000 new tokens will be created every day. From 06:00 a.m. on, tokens will be distributed.
  • The facility is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the total number of steps is 2388; the total distance is 2.1 km.
  • The average travel time is 2 to 3 hours.

  • There is a Divya Darshan Bio-Metric Token station 1250 steps into the journey. The token service is offered at no cost. Upon the receipt of the tokens, the pilgrim must immediately report to the temple.
  • The shoes of God are called Srivaari Mettu. This is why all worshippers show respect to god by kneeling in prayer while wearing their shoes on their heads.
  • In the 2050th level, there is a Divya Darshan Token Checking Station. To verify a Divya Darshan token, a stamp would be required. If the token is not stamped, it will not be valid.
