The Natural Arch, Tirumala Hills, a geological wonder, is located near to the Chakra Teertham in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, 1 km (0.6 mi) north of the Tirumala Hills temple. The name Silathoranam, which translates to “rock” and “thornam,” respectively, over a threshold to link two vertical columns or, in this case, an “arch,” is also used to refer to the Arch in the local language.

Lord Sri Venkateshwara visited Tirumala in search of his wife, Sri Maha Lakshmi. She respected Brigu Maharshi despite the fact that the sage had humiliated (embarrassed) him by kicking him in the chest when his wife Sri Mahalakshmi was present. He was settled atop Tirumala, today called SRIPADAM.

On the road leading from Sripadam to Tirumala, there is a place called SILA THORANAM. This natural rock features images of Lord Vishnu as Sanku, Chakram, Thiruman, and his Abhayakaram.

Tirupati Tirumala Silathoranam Darshan Timings Route Distance and History

• Sila Thoranam is open daily from 7 AM to 7 PM.
• The Sila Thoranam is no longer hidden in secret. There are frequent bus routes from TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam) to this location, and you may also take a car from the temple. The garden that has grown up around this unique monument shows that it is being treated with the attention it deserves, which is amazing to see.

Tirumala Silathoranam’s Beliefs:

The legendary beliefs associated with the well-known Lord Venkateswara temple in the Tirumala Hills has three main interpretations (Explanations).

1. Given that it resembles the hood of a serpent (snake), a conch (Sanskrit: Shank), and a discus (Sanskrit: chakra), all of which are symbols of adoration in Hinduism, one explanation is that the arch is where the idol of Lord Venkateswara or Lord Balaji at the Tirumala hill temple originated.
2. The second hypothesis (explanations) states that the Tirumala temple’s main god is the same height as the arch.
3. According to the third version, Lord Vishnu, the primary Hindu deity (god) of the Srivaishnava tradition who is also known as Balaji or Venkateswara, is claimed to have taken two steps at the site of the arch, the first step occurring at Padalu or Sreevaripadalu, the highest point of the Tirumala hills. The place where his idol is today venerated (respected) in the shrine at Tirumala is where the event is reported to have taken place.

Distance on the Tirumala Silathoranam Route:

• The location of the arch is convenient for air, rail, and road transportation. The rail station closest to Tirumala Hills is Tirupati. The 19 KM road trip from Tirupati train station is the only way to go to the Tirumal shrine (11.8 mi). The closest airport to Tirupati is Renigunta Airport, which connects to airports in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore and is located 15.3 Km (9.3 miles) away.
• Every bordering state with Andhra Pradesh offers regular bus service (both private and public transportation services). The driveway leading up to the temple is broad and tree-lined. Private vehicles have access to the location. It would be a pleasant 20-minute stroll from Tirumala’s Varahaswamy temple.
