Reason for Why Hanuman Jayanthi is celebrated twice a year?
As mentioned earlier Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated twice a year on the Birth of Lord Hanuman and on the day when Kesarinandhan brings Sita Devi from Lanka from the hands of Ravanasura. In South India, it is celebrated in Chaitra Masam by People in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and other southern states. Where is Northern India People celebrate Hanuman Jayanti on Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi in the Month of Karthika.
Thus Hanuman Jayanthi comes twice a year in India. This year it is April 16th, 2022 which is on Saturday. The day is popularly known as Hanuman Vratam or Vaishakha, while in Some states like Kerala, it is observed on Dhanu.
Celebrations Hanuman Jayanthi:
On this day, the people of Lord Hanuman chant the Akhand Path of Ramcharitmanas, Sundarkand, etc. to please the Lord. Many devotees also apply sindoor each over their body to seek blessings from the lord on this day. The legend has it that once Lord Hanuman had asked goddess Sita why she applied sindoor. Answering his question, she replied it was for Lord Ram’s long life. So from that day on, he applied sindoor on his entire body to make Lord Ram immortal.
Hanuman Janam-Utsav is an important festival of the Hindus. Hanuman Janmotsav is also the biggest celebrated festival in India. Lord Hanuman is an ardent devotee of Lord Rama and is widely known for his unflinching devotion to Rama. He’s said to be suitable to assume any form at will, apply the Gada ( including numerous elysian munitions), move mountains, outrage through the air, seize the shadows, and inversely rival Garuda in the quickness of flight.
