2023 Makar Sankranthi Lohri Festival Date Bonfire Timings Puja

On Saturday, January 14, 2023, is Lohri. Usually, the fire starts around 4 a.m.

• Lohri is enthusiastically celebrated in homes where a wedding or birth has just happened. Most North Indians celebrate Lohri. Lohri events are recorded, and special Lohri songs are played at them.
• Lohri is celebrated with music and dance. People dress up to compete in dance and singing contests. Lohri is also enthusiastically celebrated by people who live in cities.
• About 10 to 15 days before Lohri, celebrations start in different parts of Punjab. Boys and kids go out into the countryside to find logs for the Lohri bonfire. In some places, they also collect things like grains and jaggery, which they sell and the money goes back into the community.
• People sing and dance around the bonfire, and they throw food items like popcorn, puffed rice, popcorn, and others as a tribute to God and to ask for his blessings.

Lohri Bonfire in 2023:

On Bhogi, people get rid of old or broken things and focus on new things, which leads to change or transformation. At dawn, people start bonfires with wood logs, other solid fuels, and old wooden furniture from their homes. This marks the end of the fiscal year and the beginning of the fiscal year on the first day of the harvest the next day.
