Sankashti Chaturthi Significance

Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Bholenath and Mother Parvati, is regarded as the first deity to be venerated. Lord Ganesha is worshipped first in all fortunate endeavors. Ganesh ji is also recognized by the name Sankatmochan Vighnaharta. It is believed that if one worships Lord Ganesha in accordance with the rules, they will be liberated from all issues and difficulties. Sankashti Chaturthi is observed annually on the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. Sankashti Chaturthi signifies the one who eliminates difficulty. By observing this fast, a person’s problems are eradicated. This day is in honor of Lord Ganesha. Chanting Lord Ganesha’s mantras on this day has great benefits.

Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat Vidhi:

People begin Sanksahti Chaturthi by preparing for Lord Ganesha’s devotion. This includes meticulously cleaning their homes before the beginning of the Chaturthi tithi, making sweet offerings for the god, and decorating their dwellings.

  • To seek Lord Ganpati’s blessings, the majority of devotees conduct a day-long fast from sunrise to moonrise.
  • People believe that praying to god on this day will bring peace and prosperity to their families and save them from danger. On this day, devotees also wear red because it is considered auspicious.
  • On Sankashti Chaturthi, those who fast forgo consuming lentils, rice, and wheat. On special occasions, only sabudana khichdi, potatoes, peanuts, and fruits are consumed by devotees.
  • The only time they break their fast is when they see the moon in the evening.
  • Special sweets, such as sesame jaggery ladoos, are produced as offerings to the statue of Lord Ganesha. Additionally, the idol is embellished with fresh flowers, and aarti is performed before the god.
  • To honor Ganpati, the pooja vidhi includes recitation of the Sankashti Vrat Katha before the moonrise.
