According to Ramayanam, Deepavali is celebrated on the occasion of the return of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita Devi, Lakshmana, and Hanuman to Ayodhya after spending 14 years of vanavasam. Goddess Lakshmi Devi is believed to be born on this day during the Ksheera Sagara madhanam. So Goddess Dhana Lakshmi Devi is the most significant deity during Deepavali Pooja. As per the Hindu calendar, Deepavali is celebrated on Amavasya of Karthika Masam every year. In 2021, Deepavali is celebrated on 4 November. Dhana Lakshmi Pooja Muhurtham is 6:18 PM to 8:06 PM on 4 November 2021.

Dhana Lakshmi Pooja Vidhanam:

  • Wake up early in the morning preferably in Brahma muhurtham. Take a head bath and get ready for the pooja rituals.
  • Clean the house thoroughly and decorate the pooja room.
  • Avoid wearing dark colored clothes during Lakshmi Pooja as it considered not auspicious.
  • Prepare a kalasam half-filled with water, a flower, a coin, a betel nut, and some rice.
  • Prepare naivedhyam for Pooja.
  • Light a ghee lamp to start the pooja and the lamp should be kept as it is overnight.
  • During the pooja Maha Lakshmi, Maha Kali, and Goddess Saraswati are worshipped along with Lord Ganesha and Kubera.
  • Offering Lotus to GoddessnLakshmi Devi is considered auspicious.
  • Chant Sri Lakshmi Sahasranamam during pooja.
  • End pooja with harathi and distribute Prasadam to all.
