Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple is located on the bank of river Vaigai in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi (a form of Goddess Parvati) and her husband Sundereshwar (a form of Lord Siva). This temple is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams of Lord Siva. King Kulasekara Pandya built the Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswara temple. According to Sthala Purana, the swayambhu lingam was found by Indra, the king of gods.
