Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, the deity of Lord Vishnu, is worshiped in Yadagirigutta, also known as the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple or Yadadri Temple, which is situated in the Nalgonda District of the state of Telangana. The fact that the temple is located on a small elevation surrounded by beautiful vegetation gave rise to the name Yadagirigutta. Yadagirigutta Temple is constantly thronged by pilgrims, making it one of Telangana’s most popular tourist destinations.
The revered Maharshi Rishyasringa’s son Yada Maharishi is said to have offered penance to Lord Vishnu in this location as Narasimha, according to the Skanda Purana. The Lord appeared before him and manifested himself in five different forms: Jwaalaa Narasimha, Gandabheranda Narasimha, Yogananda Narasimha, Ugra Narasimha, and Lakshmi Narasimha. The Lord was satisfied with his penance. Narasimha was asked by Yada Maharishi to remain on the hill in these incarnations. As a result, the main cave at the Lakshmi-Narasimha Deva temple on the summit is home to statues of Narasimha in each of his five forms. The temple has always followed the South Indian Vaishnava Agama Shastras’ Thenkalai tradition.
