FAMOUS SRI RAMA TEMPLES IN NORTH INDIA

Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh:

Lord Sri Rama was born in Ayodhya. Ayodhya is called Rama Janmabhoomi. The city is on the bank of the river Sarayu. Back in the time of Rama, Ayodhya was the capital of the Kosala Kingdom. In the 16th century, Babri Masjid was built on a site marked as Rama’s birthplace and the location of an ancient Hindu temple. In 2019, the Supreme court ordered that the land belongs to Hindus and an alternate 5 acres were given to Muslims for masjid construction. In 1992 the Babri masjid was demolished by Hindu nationalists. The foundation stone of construction for the Rama Mandir is laid on 5 august 2020 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. This is one of the famous Rama temples in North India.

Ram Raja temple, Madhya Pradesh:

The Rama Raja temple is in Orcha, Madhya Pradesh, India. In this temple, Lord Rama is worshipped as a king in a palace. Police personnel has been designated as Guards at the temple, and a guard of honor is held every day. The armed salutation is provided to Lord Rama every day. In the temple, Raja ram has Sita Devi on his left, Lord Lakshmana on his right, and Sugriva and Narsingh Bhagawan on his right. Durga matha is present on the right side of the Darbaar. Lord Anjaneya and Jambavantha are present just below Sita Devi. Lord ram holds a sword in his right hand and a shield in his left hand.

Kalaram temple, Nashik, Maharastra:

In kalaram temple, Lord Rama is in the form of a black statue. According to Ramayana, Lord Rama was sent to forests for 14 years in exile. After ten years, Lord Rama along with lord Lakshmana and Sita Devi lived in Nasik on the bank of river Godavari for two and half years.

Once the idol of Sri Rama was thrown into the Godavari river in order to save it from Islamic attacks and the original temple was destroyed. The new temple was built around the 1780s funded by Sardar Rangarao Odhekar. Once he had a dream that Lord Rama’s statue was in the Godavari river and he carried out an expedition in the Godavari river and revived the idol. There is a statue for Sardar Rangarao Odhekar in the temple.

Sri Ram Tirath Temple, Amritsar:

Sri ram tirath temple is located 12 km west of Amritsar on Chogawan road. This place has an ancient tank and many temples. There are hut marks in which Sita Devi gave birth to Lava And Kusha. There is Valmiki rishis hut also.

Raghunath temple, Jammu:

Raghunatha temple is present in Jammu. This temple consists of seven shrines. But the main deity is Sri Rama. The temple has a school and a library on its premises. The library has over 6,000 manuscripts in Indian languages.
