Bhimana Amavasya is a very important and grand festival celebrated in Karnataka. This is the day for celebration and worship to Goddess Gowri devi. This Bhimana Amavasya or Bhimana Amavasye also known as Ashada Amavasya. This festival falls on the new moon day (Amavasya) of the Hindu lunar month of Ashada. This festival has a great Indian cultural and importance. The main part in this festival is doing pooja to Gowri devi and giving the vayanam (the holy gifts) to each other. Bhimana Amavasya 2023 Date Pooja Timings Puja Tithi
Bhimana Amavasya is celebrated with great enthusiasm and religious fervor in Karnataka, primarily by the farming community. The festival begins with the installation of Shiva and Parvathi idols made of clay or other eco-friendly materials in House. The idol-making process is done involves skilled artisans who intricately craft the features and details of Bhima, infusing life into the clay structure.
Bhima’s Amavasya is celebrated on a moonless day (Amavas) in the Kannada month of Ashadha (July – August). On the new moon day of Bhima, married and unmarried women and girls pray for the long life of their husbands, brothers and other male household members. Dipastambha Puja is another name for the ritual. Married women perform the Bhima Amavasai ritual for nine years of marriage.

Bhimana Amavasya 2023 Date Pooja Timings Puja Tithi and History:
The ritual is based on the story of a young woman who marries a dead prince. She accepted her faith and on the day after the wedding she performed the Amavasya Puja of Bhima with earthen lamps. Impressed by her devotion, Shiva and Parvati appeared before her and brought the prince back to life. The clay cake she prepared was broken by Shiva.
Bhimana Amavasya 2023 Date Pooja Timings Puja Tithi and Vratha Vidhana:
- On this day, Shiva and Goddess Parvati are represented by a pair of earthen lamps known as Kalikamba. On this holy day, special pujas are performed to satisfy the holy couple.
- On this occasion, a tambittu deepa or tambittu deepa made of flour is built and lit to calm any negative emotions like anger, irritation etc.
- Another important feature of Bhima Amavasi is the preparation of cake. Dough balls, or kadubus, with coins hidden in them.
