There are seven kalasas on the three-tiered Raja Gopuram (main tower) of the 60,000-square-foot Sri Ulagalantha Perumal Temple. The temple is home to four divya desams: Thirukkarvaanam, Thirukaaragam, Thiruooragam, and Thiruneeragam. All of the shrines were likely independent temples, although it is unknown what exactly happened to cause them to be housed in the Ulagalantha Perumal temple. In a single line, Thirumangai Azhwar praises all four temples. Outside the main temple, the compound is where you’ll find Naga Tirtha, the temple tank. The Vimana, which serves as the sanctum’s roof, has a raised roof to fit the enormous picture of the presiding deity.

Devotees can worship at the Thiruneeragam Shrine with Neeragathan – Jagadesswara Perumal under Jagadeeswara Vimanam in his standing position facing east, in the second prakaram of the Thiru Ooragam Ulagalantha Perumal Temple, which is located behind the 16-pillar Mandapam. The shrine is quite modest despite being one of the 108 Divyadesams, and there is no precise information on the Temple Vimanam, Gopuram, or Utsava Murthy. The deity Thayar is revered as Nilamangaivalli Nachiyar.
This Divyadesam may be found inside the Ulagalandha Perumal Koil of the Ooragathan Temple. The Kamakshi Amma Temple is fairly close by. Sri Neeragathan is this Sthalam’s Moolavar. He also goes by the name Jagadeeshwarar. He is discovered at Nindra Thirukkolam with his thirumugham pointing east. Along with “Nilamangai valli Thaayar,” the Perumal is also known as “Thiru Neeragathan.”
Kanchi Ulagalantha Perumal Temple Pooja Rituals
For both Ulagalantha Perumal and Amuthavalli, the rituals consist of three steps: alangaram (decoration), Naivedyam (food offering), and Deepa Aradhana (waving of lamps). The nagaswaram and Tamil are played during the last act of worship, priests recite sacred verses from the Vedas, and worshippers prostrate themselves before the temple mast. There are rituals performed in the temple on a weekly, monthly, and fortnightly basis. The temple also celebrates two main festivals: Brahmotsavam in the Tamil month of January to February and Vamana Jayanthi in the Tamil month of Avani from August to September
The Temple is close to the well-known Kamakshi Amman Temple and is situated in the Kanchipuram neighborhood.
