Origin of Shri Ambabai / Mahalaxmi Temple:

Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur is well-known throughout Maharashtra. Hindus revere (with great respect) this Shakti Peeta as a sacred site. As the husband of Lakshmi, Lord Vishnu is said to have loved this location very much.

The five fundamental elements of Prithvi (earth), Aap (water), Tej (light), Vayu (wind), and Akash (fire) were the first manifestations of this Shakti (space).
