There are various stories about Saraswati in Rigveda, Devi Bhagavatam, Brahma Vaivarta Purana (2.6.13-95), and Padma Purana. There is a legend that as Brahma is the creator of all creation, Saraswati was also created by Brahma and he wore her on his tongue to accompany him in the work of creation. Devi Bhagavatam says that Shrimata Devi bestowed Saraswati as the form of Shakti to Brahma to perform the work of creation. Another story is that Vishnu gave Saraswati to Brahma.
