Backstory and Importance

While Prahlad, Hiranyakashipu’s own son, preferred to worship Lord Vishnu, Hiranyakashipu wanted everybody to adore him. Hiranyakashipu chose to discipline his kid because he was offended. He requested his fire-resistant sister Holika to sit next to Prahlad in the fire. When she did, Holika was murdered by the flames but Prahlad was unharmed. Then, Lord Vishnu murdered Hiranyakashipu in the guise of Narasimha. This Holika event is known as Holika Dahan.

Holi also honors the heavenly love shared by Lord Krishna and Radha. As a result, Mathura and Vrindavan celebrate Holi in a lavish manner.

Holi Celebrations 2023:

The day after Holika Dahan or the Holi bonfire is always the main Holi day when people play with colors. People play Holi the following morning using both dry and wet colors. With dry-coloured powders, or Gulal, people are more inclined and at ease to play Holi. Nevertheless, a lot of individuals believe that Holi celebrations would be lacking without moist colors.
