Sri Bheemeshwara Swamy temple is dedicated to Lord Bheemeshwara swamy, a form of Lord Shiva and his wife Goddess Manikyamba Devi. Bheemeshwara Swamy temple is located in Draksharamam, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The moola virat of this temple is in the form of spatika linga of 2.6 meters in height. This temple is also known as Dakshina Kasi kshetram. This temple is one among the five powerful temples of Lord Shiva known as “pancharamas” in Andhra Pradesh.

History of Draksharamam Sri Jyothir Bheemeshwara Swamy Temple:
Sri Bheemeshwara temple was constructed by the Eastern Chalukyas king Bheema in the period of 892AD to 902AD. King Bheema established the shiva linga and called as lord Bheemeswara after his own name. This temple was developed by many royal dynasties like eastern Chalukyas, Kalyani Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Reddi kings, Cholas, Eastern Gangas and Vijayanagara kings. The Puranas and other literature work state the origin and importance of this place. “Skanda Purana” describes the holiness of the Draksharamam temple. The great Telugu poet SrinathaKkavi Sarvabhowmudu explained the significance of this temple in his Bheemeswara puranam. Draksharamam is referred with many names as Jananathapuram, Bhimanathapuram, Pedda Dakaremi, Dakshapovana, and Dakshina Kasi in many Puranas.
