MausiMa temple was built in the 14th century AD by rulers of Ganga. The temple faces in the direction of the south and comprises Vimana, Jagamohana, and a Nata Mandapa. Dwarapalakas can be found at the entrance and a Navagraha Panel can be seen with Rahu holding up a bow and Kethu with a serpent tail.

Mausi Temple History:
The right side of the Grand Road is where Mausi ma Temple lies and is dedicated to Lord Ardhasini. It is believed that she drank half of the water to save Puri from the floods. Hence this temple is also called Ardhasini Temple. Mausi means Aunt and Ma means goddess. Mausi Ma means Aunt Mother of the Lord Jagannath. It is a belief that Ardhasini and Kapalmochna Shiva continuously monitor the temple and the Puri town.

The Rath Yatra festival plays a huge role in the temple’s history. On the day of Bahuda Jatra, The deities Balabhadra and Subhadra Devi are taken directly to Lion’s gate of Lord Jagannath Temple whereas the idol of Jagannath stays in front of the Mausi temple for a while where he accepts Poda Pitha, a rice cake from his aunt Ardhasini.
Mausi Temple Timings:
The timings of the Mausi temple are from 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM. The entry fee is free for all the pilgrims and mobiles are not allowed inside the temple.
