Srisailam Temple is in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. It is also known as Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple. On the banks of the River Krishna, on top of the Nallamala hills, is a temple. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas to Lord Shiva is the Lingam of the main god, Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy.

Abhishekam and Archana can be done to the Mallikarjuna Linga by anyone, no matter their caste, creed, or religion. The unique thing about the Linga is that you can touch it and do the Puja by yourself.

Srisailam is the only place on earth where the Jyothirlinga form of Lord Shiva and the Sakthi Rupam of Parvathi Devi lived in the same temple bailey. It is a blessing from God for people to be able to see both Shiva and Shakthi at the same time. The Panchakshari Mantra “Om Namah Sivaya” is chanted while devotees see Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and then Sri Bhramaramba Devi.

People also believe that Lord Rama put the Sahasralinga in the Srisailam Temple himself. The Linga is made up of 25 faces, which are each made up of 40 Lingas. This means that a single Linga has a total of 1000 small Lingas carved on it.

The Pancha Pandava Lingas were put in the temple by the Pandavas. The five Lingas are called Sadyojatha, Vamadeva, Aghora, Tatpurush, and Eesana. These names come from the different ways that Siva can look. On the walls of the temple are also stories from the Mahabharata. The Mahabharata also talks about Srisailam hill as a holy place.
