Almost 1500 kg of gold was used in the covering of the temple. The Vimanam and Ardha Mandapam of the temple are covered with pure gold. Every detail in the temple art is handmade, including the conversion process of gold bars into gold foils. 9 to 10 layers of gold foil are mounted on the etched plates of copper. Every minute detail in the temple has significance from the Vedas. The temple is designed on a Star-shaped path. One has to go through this path which is 1.8 km long.
