The Mangaluru Dasara festival will be held from September 26 to October 6 at the Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple. On October 5, there will be a big Shobha Yatra of Nava Durga and Sharada Mata. In the last two years, COVID-19 made it so that the Shobha Yatra could not happen.

Mangalore Dasara Shobha Yatra 2022 Date and Procession Route 

The procession starts in the evening of Vijaya Dashami at the Kudroli Shree Gokamanatheshwara Temple and ends at the same place in the early morning. The next day, the statues were dunked in the Pushkarini pond in the temple complex. In the procession, Mahaganapathi, Sharada, and the “Navadurga” idols are carried along with flowers, umbrellas with decorations, tableaux, bands, chende and traditional dances, folk dances, Yakshagana characters, Dollu Kunitha, Gombe (dolls), Pilinalike (Huli vesha), and other forms of traditional art.

The procession goes through Kudroli, Mannagudda, Ladyhill, Lalbagh, KS Rao road, Hampanakatta, Car Street, and Alake, which are the city’s main roads.

The Gokarnanatha Seva Dal will give Sharada “mata” a silver Peeta, and a family from Mangaluru will give the idol a silver veena. The 12 kg silver Peeta will cost Rs 12 lakh and will be given to Goddess Sharada. In Puttur, they are making the Rajatha (silver) Peeta, which will be given away on September 24.

Mangalore Shobha yatra Highlights:

At the Gokaranatha Kalyana Mantapam, an artistically made Kalamantapa will also be made. At the famous Mysuru Dasara, Sridevi is carried in a procession on an Ambari. In Mangaluru, the Navadurga and the Utsavamurti of Sharadambe are carried in a Shobha Yatra.

Since two years ago, there hasn’t been a Shobhayatra. This time, people are determined to have a colorful Dussehra parade, and it’s thought that lakhs of people will join. During the festival, a 90-person team from Gujarat will perform the Dandiya dance at the temple as part of a cultural program.

Mangaluru Dasara will be just as interesting as the Mahatobhara Sri Mangaladevi Temple, whose traditional ceremonies and big celebrations are at Car street Sri. Venkataramana Temple has drawn people from all over the world.
