In the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Arulmigu Adhiparasakthi Siddhar Peetam is located at Melmaruvathur, 92 km from Chennai (formerly known as Madras). This is the location of the Jeeva-Samadhis of 21 Siddhars (saints), both men and women of various religions (meaning, where the Siddhars left their human forms behind, while they are still alive as holy spirits). The heavenly mother Adhi para Sakthi transmigrates into Arulthiru Bangaru Adigalar here at Melmaruvathur Adiparashakti Siddhar Peetam, encouraging spirituality and devotion.

In the 1960s, there was only a neem tree where the sanctum sanctorum of the present temple now stands. In contrast to most neem trees, which produce fruit with a bitter taste, this one secreted and dripped delicious honey. Every time they walked by this tree, villagers in that village noticed that they had the want to drink its honey. The word quickly spread across the entire hamlet and its surroundings since many passersby said that drinking this nectar had cured their illnesses and maladies. As a result, it became common for the locals to give sick friends and family members a drop of this nectar. They cared for this tree as medicine and guarded it against grazing livestock and woodcutters.
