About Bathukamma Festival and Puja

‘Bathukamma’ festival is the most famous and Grandly celebrated in Telangana state for nine days from Ashvayuja Masa Suddha Padyami. This Bathukamma festival or Saddu festival is dedicated to the nature goddess in the form and nome of Gauri Devi. Generally, this festival falls two days before Navaratri Dasara.

Bathukamma is a very special festival in Telangana. This festival comes at the end of the rainy season and early winter. During the rains, all the ponds are filled with colorful flowers. Gunugu flowers and Tangedu flowers grow a lot in this. Moreover, this is also the time for flowers like Nandivardhanam. The sorghum crop is also shaking its head. On this occasion, the women of Telangana (Telangana) celebrate the Bathukamma festival by glorifying the natural beauty of colorful flowers. During these 9 days, every door will have festive art. All the sisters come together and play and sing together.

Bathukamma Festival Puja and 9 Days Prasadam Palaharam Recipes

  • 1st-day Alankaram in the name of Angili Pula Bathukamma: This is the start of the festival and This starts on Mahalaya Amavasya day. Rice flour, Sesame seeds, and nuts are offered as Naivedhyam to Bathukamma.
  • 2nd-day Alankaram in the name of Atukula Bathukamma: On this day, Atukulu, Bellam (jaggery), and sappidi pappu are offered as Naivedhyam to Bathukamma.
  • 3rd-day Alankaram in the name of Muddapappu Bathukamma: On this day, Milk, Jaggery, and mudda pappu are offered as Naivedhyam to Bathukamma.
  • 4th-day Alankaram in the name of Nane Biyyam Bathukamma: On this day, Soaked rice, milk, and jaggery are offered as Naivedhyam to Devi.
  • 5th-day Alankaram in the name of Atla Bathukamma: On this day, Dosa or Atlu is offered as Naivedhyam to Ammavaaru.
  • 6th-day Alankaram in the name of Aligina Bathukamma: This day falls on Ashvayuja Shudda Panchami. No Prasadam or Naivedyam offered to bathukamma.
  • 7th-day Alankaram in the name of Vepakayala Bathukamma: On this day, Fried rice flour is made into neem fruits and offered as Naivedhyam to Goddess
  • 8th-day Alankaram in the name of Vennamuddala Bathukamma: On this day, Butter or Ghee mixed with jaggery is the main offering to ammavaru.
  • 9th-day Alankaram in the name of Saddula Bathukamma: This is the last day of the Festival and Durgashtami is celebrated on the same day. Naivedhyam will be offered in five types. Those items are perugannam, tamarind pulihora, cobbarannam, and sesame seeds rice
